About us

About us
"Fuzzy and Daisy" - This is us, Greta, Paul, our kids, and our 2 heads of security.

We started our small family business because we want to bring decor, apparel, and jewelry that we love and appreciate to other families.

Name and logo:

Connected to our unusual family story, the bee -Fuzzy- is the symbol of our love of nature and the great outdoors and of our constant efforts to support those little fuzzy friends. (Thanks to our neighbors for tolerating our “weeds” when we are feeding the bees - especially during "no mow May." :-) By the way, Dandelions are only weeds because they grow where people don't want them, but actually, they are anything but weeds.)
The (English) daisy -Daisy- is a reference to Greta's home in Germany, where English daisies covered her family's backyard. They are one of her many favorites and dearly missed in her Wisconsin yard - but she is working on it. ;-)

Here is the story behind some signature items in our store.

Apparel:
Living in Wisconsin, we were fortunate to send our kids to a public outdoor elementary school. Yes, you heard correctly! Learning outside - in Wisconsin.

Their classrooms did not have four walls. Their "hallways" were the winding paths through the woods. Literacy lessons were a rotating affair, where small groups took turns for instruction while the others continued their individual reading escapades in hammocks that were set up in the woods.

Math ventured out into the wild, and science lessons became thrilling adventures. The kids didn't just learn about the life cycle of a frog from books and pictures; they could pick every single life cycle state right out of the pond, or encounter many other animals up close, making their learning experiences not only more hands-on but also fun and memorable.

Most of their school days were spent this way with investigations and scientific research outside - the indoor classroom an option only during extreme weather (think: polar vortex and extreme cold, or downpours and thunderstorms) - and most of the time, mud, water, puddles, and dirt were constant companions.
Through all this, we REALLY got to appreciate the right outdoor clothing because there is no such thing as bad weather. We learned that the right clothing could make or break our children's learning experiences and their overall appreciation of the great outdoors. In the colder months, quality clothing was an absolute necessity. It was the difference between picking up our kids from school, bubbling with excitement and eager to share their adventures, or finding them miserable, cold, and wet, dreading the next bad weather school day.

Here you will be able to find clothing made of quality Merino and other material which has proven to keep our kids comfortable. From base layers to socks and outerwear. If our family approves of them, we will offer them to you.

Don't forget to check out our RELOVED section. You might just be able to find just the right piece of clothing looking for a new home.

Jewelry:
We love our spinning rings! To bring the necessary calm to the racing mind of our amazing, creative, athletic daughter, we went on our own journey to find something that would help. Besides stumbling across a "Brain Balance" center in our area by pure luck and seeing the fantastic success while going through their program (- but that's a story for a different time -), we came across the spinning rings.

Different than other fidget toys that attempt to keep hands busy while calming the mind, these rings don't come in clanking tin cans and lids, that clatter on classroom floors when trying to extract the thinking putty, and they don't produce the popping sounds of ever-growing pop-it toys which become more a distraction than a help to concentrate, our spinning rings don't need two hands. They can be used very discreetly and quietly with just the movement of one finger. The rings can be worn in different ways, but for most, wearing them on the index or middle finger of the non-dominant hand and spinning them with the thumb has proven to be the easiest. This way the dominant hand is free to keep on writing, no matter if you use a pen or a keyboard - as I am doing right now :-). Spinning the rings is a very welcome alternative to biting and picking nails!
Besides our spinning rings, you might find earrings and other pieces of jewelry that speak to you. All of them "spoke to us" or they would not be in our store. ;-)
Our rings are made of silver, gold, stainless steel, or other high-quality metals.

Seasonal and home decor:
Most of our seasonal and home decor items are handmade - either by our family or other artisans and therefore limited in quantity. The great thing about them is, that you can custom order most of them!
